Join the Wine Society of Texas, Central Branch for a fun and educational evening developing your palate and senses. We will sample and discuss, 6 distinct wines, while comparing and discussing a range of all natural aroma’s provided.  Hors d’oeuvres will be provided as well.

The cost of the event will be $25.00 for Wine Society members and $35 for non members. This event is limited to 30 participants and will sell out, so pick up you tickets soon. Tickets are available at Uncorked Wine Bar, or The Grape Wine Bistro.

When: Saturday, January 31, 2009
Where: Uncorked Wine Bar, 1201 Hewitt Drive, in the Hewitt West Rock Center.

Price: $25 members / $35 non-members

Holiday of Lights Trolley Tour

Join the Wine Society for the Holiday of Lights Trolley Tour on December 21st beginning at 7pm.

We will depart promptly at 7:20 from the Richland Mall parking log. A limited number of tickets are are available for $5 at The Grape & Uncorked.

This is a BYOW event. We recommend that you bring spiced wine or your favorite warm-me-up beverage. The wine society will provide cups, cookies and sweets.

The Wine Society has leased one of the Trolleys for this fun event. We have room for 20 Wine Society members so don’t delay. First come first serve and this event will obviously sell out fast. Pick up your tickets at The Grape or Uncorked. You may call Harley Groff, Wine Society Board Chairman, for additional information (254) 723-1345.

Christmas Party is Tonight

All current and prospective members, pleas join us this evening from 6:30-9:30 at the home of Burt & Pat Cargill for our annual members Christmas Party.

If you are coming, here is what you need to bring:

  • BYOW (or your favorite beverage).
  • Bring a food dish to share.
  • Bring one, wrapped, wine gift per person for the gift exchange.

Note: Be prepared to have steal the best gift or have your gift stolen. (All is fair in wine and war)

Wines Announced For Waco Hilton Mixer

It’s going to be a delicious evening at the newly refurbished Waco Hilton. This Thursday from 6:00-8:30pm, join the Central Texas Chapter of the Wine Society of Texas as we get together and enjoy two scrumptious wines.
Nieto Reserva Malbec -  A deeply-colored, powerful red with great concentration of berry fruit. Complex flavors of plums, figs, and dried fruit with a smoky vanilla character. Juicy fruit and great balance on the finish. Grown in the Mendoza Valley of Argentina, often called the “New Napa Valley.”
Los Vascos Cabernet Sauvignon – An attractive ruby in color with a very red fruit nose and some chocolate and bay leaf touches. Highly concentrated with strawberry & cherries fruit notes and marked spices. Persistent and balanced. Grown in the Colchagua Valley in Chile, an area named “Wine Region of the Year.”

The price is $20 for members, $25 for non-members. Memberships will be available at the event.

Wine Society After Hours Mixer – October 9th

Our next event is scheduled for Thursday, October 9th 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm at the Hilton Waco in the bar area. We will taste two wines, one from Chile and one From Argentina (TBD). Hors D’oeuvres will be served.

Join us at the beautiful, newly refurbished Hilton in downtown Waco and hang out with other wine lovers.

Next Event September 13: Members Only

The next event for the Central Texas Chapter of the Wine Society of Texas will be held at The Grape on Saturday September 13, 2008, from 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm. It is a members only event.

Continuing our “Wine Around the World” theme for 2008, we will taste wines of Spain and Portugal. Appetizers will be served courtesy of The Grape.

During this event we will vote on board positions for the next year. This is a special event only open to members of the Texas Wine Society. There is no charge for this event.

Non Members may attend for $40 per person or $75 per couple, and this will get you a free one year member ship into the wine society (that’s the cost of a yearly membership). If you want to attend, please RSVP with an email to jayehret<at>gmail.com (replace <at> with @)

Name Tags Available for Purchase

Name tag anyone? 

Some of our Board Members have decided to purchase permanent name tags for themselves and we want to make these available to all members to purchase as well.  If you were an original member of the Central Texas Chapter, you are eligible to have Charter Member on your tag.

 

These are the hard plastic magnetic name tags.  

They are $10.00 + tax

or

winesociety.centraltexas@gmail.com

The latter address will give multiple members of the board access to email so we can respond in a timely manner even if one board member is out of town.
